Director/Founder/Choreographer Anna Harsh Artistic Director and founder Anna Harsh is a professional dancer and award-winning choreographer. Allegro Dance Company was formed out of the love and inspiration of being an Italian-American. Her Italian roots and traditions influence her choreography and desire to preserve stories of family heritage with pride. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Communication from West Virginia University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from Slippery Rock University and is a certified STOTT PILATESTM Instructor, as well as a RYT200 Yoga Instructor. Having a published article in Dance Spirit Magazine, her choreographic work has been recognized in Dance Magazine and Danza Italia. In 2013, Anna received the Excellence in Education award from Marshall University and the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival. In 2015, She was honored in the Ambassador Magazine by the National Italian American Foundation. In August 2019, Allegro was featured in the FRA NOI, an Italian based magazine in Chicago, IL. She travels throughout the United States and Italy for extensive research on Italian culture to find and archive traditional dances to share through performances and workshops. Allegro's mission is to preserve and perpetuate these traditional Italian dances. They have produced a dance documentary called La Danza - Bridging Time Through Dance. Sharing the love for her Italian heritage using the art of dance radiates through her classes and choreography.
