Allegro Dance Company was formed our of the love and inspiration of being an Italian-American by Founder and Director Anna Pishner Harsh. Anna is a WV native where her grandparents made a home when they came to the United States in the early 1920s from Reggio di Calabria. That inspired Anna’s love for music and dance. She holds a M.A degree in Communication from WVU and a B.A degree in Dance from Slippery Rock University. Through her extensive research in Italy over the years, she continues to grow Allegro’s repertoire of authentic dances to share with audiences of all ages.
Allegro has toured the United States and Italy giving workshops and performances for festivals, cultural events and universities. They have performed for Pope John Paul II, toured with the WV Symphony, Wheeling Symphony Orchestra and taken master classes from flag wavers from Italy. They have been featured in Fra Noi magazine, NIAF Ambassador Magazine among others.
Allegro is known for their exciting showcases of authentic, traditional Italian dances as well as their contemporary and innovative choreography inspired from Italy. Allegro Dance Company brings the Italian culture to the generation to preserve our heritage and traditions. Their lively and entertaining showcases will have the audience singing and dancing along. Balliamo!
